Hip Hop is Back in San Diego With F6ix - RMD Group brings upscale hip hop to the Gaslamp

If you thought hip hop was dying, you thought wrong. With dirty house beats invading almost every nightclub in the Gaslamp, RMD Group—the same company that brought hotspots Fluxx and Sidebar, as well as Ciro’s Pizzeria—is providing a breath of fresh air to San Diego’s club scene.

Get ready to drop it down low Friday, June 24, at the grand opening of F6ix, RMD Group’s latest contribution to nightlife. The opening night will be hosted by San Diego’s own Crystal Harris, a famed Playboy bunny and, as of late, Hugh Hefner’s former fiancĂ©e.

Located near the corner of F Street and Sixth Avenue, F6ix has taken over the underground space formerly occupied by Sin Nightclub. Upon entering, guests descend a stairway to the 6,000 square-foot, brightly illuminated underground vault, designed by OCIO Design Group. The 350-capacity venue’s unique metallic and wood textures are highlighted by vibrant hues of red, pink and orange.

The lighting is prepared by SJ Lighting Inc., the company also responsible for Fluxx’s famous displays. The shiny dance floor centers on a captivating stage and DJ booth, where local DJs will be dropping heavy beats of Top 40 hip hop.

Luxurious bi-level bottle service tables sit along the walls of the lively club, allowing VIP guests prime access to the dance floor as well as the 50-foot bar, and an excellent view of all the action.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy a nice dinner at F6ix’s restaurant before letting loose in the club.

The restaurant is open Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and offers a variety of menu options, featuring entrees from $20-$30.
Come dressed to impress, and get your swagger on.

Cali Swag District rapper M-Bone killed in drive-by shooting

Cali Swag District rapper M-Bone, who was born Mante Ray Talbert, was killed Sunday night in a drive-by shooting, according to Inglewood, Calif., police.

Lt. James Madia said M-Bone was sitting in a car outside an Inglewood liquor store when another car pulled alongside. Shots were fired, and the 22-year-old rapper was struck twice in the head. The other car fled the scene, police said, and the motive is currently under investigation.

In a statement, the members of Cali Swag District called M-Bone “an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed.” They asked anyone with information about the killing to contact the Inglewood Police Department.

A kid Gunned down in the streets of Los Angeles SMH.”

Cali Swag District’s “Teach Me How to Dougie” was a huge hit last year, inspiring a dance that was recently done by first lady Michelle Obama.

'The Dance Scene' Shows 'Music Still Matters,' Laurieann Gibson Says

Laurieann Gibson debuted her new E! reality show, "The Dance Scene," on Sunday night, and the premiere was an inside look at what it's like to be one of the most sought-after choreographers in the game.

Gibson — who is also Lady Gaga's creative director — is seen working with A-listers Katy Perry and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles as they prepare for VH1's "Divas Live" in the first episode.

Before her E! show, Gibson had made appearances on reality shows like "So You Think You Can Dance," MTV's "Making the Band" and "Skating With the Stars." When MTV News caught up with her, Gibson said she was drawn to the idea of having her own reality show because she wanted fans to see that there's still real artistry in pop music.

"I think it's the only reason why I did the show, was because after being in the music industry for so long and loving music and wanting real artists and real talent to take the forefront as opposed to a premeditated idea of what an artist is based on — a corporate mind-set or a person — that a piece of music or a piece of dance is birthed out of your belly," she explained.

"I want the music to get back into the hands of the people. I wanted them to know that if they watch the show and they see me doubt or fear or fight through adversity or some dream-slayer and they can watch and be inspired that they can make it," Gibson added. "The music still matters, that the dance still matters, that the gift still matters."

The show goes deep into Gibson's life and follows her crew of dancers and choreographers, all of whom work from her Boom Kack studios. The dance maven is known for her tough approach, and she thinks the show, which is executive-produced by

Ryan Seacrest, will show another side of Gaga's trusted right-hand lady.
"I think they're gonna be surprised to know the truth to how I've gotten where I've gotten and what I've been through," Gibson told us. "Because I seem so tough and I am so tough [but] they're going to see another side of me. I'm still a little girl."

What do you think of Laurieann's new E! show? Tell us in the comments!

Dancer of the Week: Ryan Ramirez dance Shark

In the world on hip-hop and break dance, local dance studio's in North County would not be as prominent today, if it wasn't for dance teachers like Ryan Ramirez.

The San Diego native, and Encinitas local has inspired young dancers through his forcefully danced & aggressively taught classes commonly taught at 429 Dance Studio, in Encinitas Ca.

As a result, more and more Encinitas dance studio's are filling up with aspiring student dancers, eager to collaborate with Ramirez. Teaching dancers of all ages, college & high school students, to mini boppers as young as four, Ryan has permanently replaced the meaning of what it means to be a traditional dance teacher.

The break dancer is also a member of one of San Diego's most established dance crews called "Uncomfortably Fresh". During his leisure time, the performer enjoys to organize dance fundraisers and events for low income San Diego dance studio's.

February 12, the 24 yr old will be conducting a dance competition at the Encinitas YMCA with entry fee of $5 to raise money for kids in the Encinitas dance community. We sat down with the performer to find out how dancing became a significant part of his life.

1) Ryan, how & when did you get into dance? I got into dance my junoir year in high school when I was 17 years old. I had a lot of dancers friends that did regular hip hop but it didnt catch my eye. Then I saw one of my fiends brother break dancing at a practice and i was hooked from then on.

2) What are your favorite style of dance do dance personally? In order are Break Dancing, Hip Hop, House, Salsa, Lyrical

3) You are a very experienced break dancer, a very
challenging form of dance? How long did it take you to learn?
It is very challenging. I've been dancing for 7 years now and Im still learning to this day. Theres so many moves out there to keep you busy.

4) How many hours a week do you spend dancing? It really depends on my scedule but im usually getting at least 6-8hrs a week.

5) What types of style music are your favorite to dance to?
Original Hip Hop, Funk, House, anything latin, and pretty much really anything. I love all types of music. A true dancer can dance to anything.

6) Do you practice dance in the mirror at home? Yes I do. I have closet mirrors so when im bored I start practicing.

7) Are there any particular dancers in the media you admire? JabbaWockees, Poreotics

8) Do you watch dance shows like "America's Best Dance Crew, Dancing
with the Stars, or Do you think you can Dance?"
I'll only watch these shows if my friends our on them.

9) What advice to you have for young dancers who hope to become "experienced"? To always stay focused and just have fun at what you do. Dance in a art form so dance your dance.

Dance Icon Chris Brown Breaks a Window after Interview on Good Morning America

Shortly after news broke that Chris Brown had stormed out of ABC News' Times Square studios following an appearance on "Good Morning America," a rep for ABC released a statement to MTV News defending their interview, during which host Robin Roberts asked Brown about his 2009 assault of Rihanna and its consequences.

"As always, we ask questions that are relevant and newsworthy," the rep said in the statement. "And that's what we did in this interview with Mr. Brown."

With varying reports surfacing after the incident, Roberts took to her Twitter account to react to Brown's outburst, writing, "Sure has been an interesting AM @GMA. Still sorting thru everything myself. Just my 2nd day on twitter, wonder what tomorrow will bring?"

Sources tell E! News that the star "went ballistic" shortly after the interview wrapped. He started cursing and throwing furniture, making show staffers "feel scared."

"He went ballistic, absolutely ballistic," the source explained. "After Robin got a lot of criticism for [not pressing] Tiger [Woods], she pressed him. She was concerned after she was slammed for that. Chris thought he'd be asked one question, not pressed on it. They say, 'We'll ask you one Rihanna question,' but she kept asking follow-ups. He got off and went crazy.

"He smashed a chair into a window and that glass is so thick, people heard shattering and security was called," the source added. "It was to the point where people were scared. The question is now how ABC will report it."

Sources tell People a similar story, with an eyewitness adding, "He was visibly upset and appeared livid after the interview."

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!!! Boom Box Dancer of the week FLUXX HEADLINE DANCER CHLOE NEVERMORE (HEMMAT)!!!!!!!

Chloe Nevermore is one of San Diego's, most established dancers, although many would argue she might be one of the best on the west coast. Her curvaceous and perfectly toned physique has a look only all dancers dream about. Today, Nevermore is the lead performer at San Diego's most renowned night club FLUXX, where she dances in front of nearly 500 club goers a night.

This charismatic and dedicated entertainer is not your average dancer, as the majority of her performances include her dancing 'static trapeze'. Swinging from ropes and metal bars hung above the dance floor as high up as 25 feet is an act the dancer makes look effortless. We sat down with the performer to get the scoop on how dancing came a major part of her life.

1) Chloe, how & when did you get into dance?
Dance has always been a part of my life. As a little girl I took jazz class and gymnastics. In high school I was on a dance team and then after high school I missed dance so much that I went to a few auditions. I didnt know what a "gogo" dancer was at the time...All I knew is that it was at a nightclub, it paid well and was fun. After a couple auditions I was hired and started dancing once or twice a week.

2) What are your favorite style of dance to dance? ( Sorry if that question sounds confusing, I'm basically asking what style type dancing is your favorite to do?)
I like to free-style. I don't have a specific style.

3) Trapeze is a very challenging form of dance? How long did it take you to learn?
Some aerial hoop and silks tricks were easy to pick up on...others I'm still trying to learn.

4) How many hours a week do you spend dancing?
5-8hours

5) How do you prepare before a performance?
At FLUXX we do shows and practice times can be anywhere from 2 hours twice a week.

6) How do you keep your physique in top shape? Do you workout, outside of when your on the job?
Yes, I hate the gym though, even though I don't like going to the gym sometimes I feel like I have to so I will go once or twice a week. I love to hike! and on occasion I will go to bikrams yoga. I like outdoor activity, taking my dog to the dog beach or dog park and running around with them. Going on jogs in La Jolla or through Sea Port Village are fun too. So I do a lot of cardio. I try to do an ab workout once a week.

7) You are currently San Diego's lead headline dance performer at FLUXX San Diego. What is that like?
FLUXX is the most amazing club I have ever worked at (sorry other venues)...The main reason for this is because of the staff. Surrounding myself with amazing people really helps me be the best I can be. We are a close family at FLUXX :)

8) What types of style music are your favorite to dance to?
I love dub-step but I rarely get it. My favorite DJ's to dance to are DJ Sid Viscous and DJ Cobra. House and hip hop mixed with a little top 40.

9) Do you dance in the mirror at home?
No. Haha

10) Are there any particular dancers in the media you admire? CIARA! also Justin Timberlake & Usher cause sex appeal is everything!

11) Do you watch dance shows like "America's Best Dance Crew, Dancing with the Stars, or Do you think you can Dance?"
When I come across it on TV I will watch for a minute... but I rarley watch TV. I have a few specific shows I LOVE "true blood" and "the office" so I mostly try to catch those.

12) What are your thoughts on the term "Go-Go" dancer?
I don't consider myself or any of my FLUXX dancers "gogo's" because I believe that we are so much more. We do shows, skits, aerial work and more. My style isn't anything like what I would say is "gogo"

13) When you aren't dancing, how do you spend your leisure time? I love to spend time with my Fiance. We love to travel and spend time with our dogs! I spend a lot of time with my family and friends too :)

14) What advice do you have for dancers who hope to explore the sport as a career?
If you think you have what it takes then pursue it! If you don't have what it takes then work at it until you do or purse another job:) I personally don't think the type of dancing I do is a long term career. I love it so much and it's hard to say that. I would like to move onto management after dancing. That wont be for a very long time but when that time comes that I quit dancing I would love to be a manager. I have a clothing line "Tainted Entropy" and that is also a big part of my life.

Kendra Wilkinson Will Put Her ‘Money Maker’ To Good Use On ‘Dancing with the Stars'

LOS ANGELES, California. Reality personality Kendra Wilkinson knows her strengths and the former Playboy model plans to put her assets to good use during her new gig on Season 12 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which premieres on Monday.

“Kendra is going to use her money maker — well, she has a few body parts that are money makers, “ Kendra’s pro partner, Louis Van Amstel, told Access Hollywood of their competition strategy at the pair’s rehearsal in LA on Thursday. “So we’re deciding that the derriere is going to start first.”

“That’s cool with me,” Kendra added. “Everybody knows my ‘Go, Kendra’ dance, my booty shake and stuff… we’ll definitely add it in. But it’s going to be a little bit cleaned up!”
As for Kendra’s “Dancing” support system, the bubbly new mom said her husband, NFL star Hank Baskett, is her biggest and toughest! fan.

“Hank thinks it’s awesome that I’m on the show he’s my number one support,” Kendra raved. “Him and my little son. They’re my support and every time I get done with practice, I go home and I teach him and it’s like a family thing now.

“My son actually gets involved. Actually, he has that jealous thing now he goes, ‘Stay away!’ He gets jealous ‘cause, you know, I’m… his girlfriend,” she laughed.

“Kendra’s husband almost acts like her coach actually,” Louie interjected. “He’s like, ‘You better go all out. If you don’t go all out, you better not come home!’”

Heat Ends Losing Streak With Exclamation Point! What!

Miami: The arena was shaking, possibly from the excitement, perhaps from the anxiety or most likely a combination of every existing emotion possible. The Miami Heat had been this close before, only to send everyone away in some state of distress.

However tonight the Heat closed out a 94-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers and ended a five-game losing streak that threatened the franchise’s morale. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James overcame poor shooting performances to combine from 40 points and nearly 10 assists. The Heat (44-21) held the Lakers scoreless in the final 2 minutes 26 seconds. It was the Lakers’ first loss since Feb. 16, ending an eight-game winning streak. Now King James can once again get rid of the tissue box & throw on his infamous side kicks 'happy dance's'! Dance on Lebron, dance on!!!

Chris Brown Nude Photos Leak Online: Self-portrait naked in bathroom mirror.

Oh crap! A nude photo reportedly of Chris Brown has leaked online late Friday (March 4), which shows the 21-year-old "Run It" singer & dancer standing full-frontal in bathroom mirror. Taking the pic with his iPhone and adorned in nothing more than his tattoos and newly dyed blond hair, Brown appears with a look of concentration in the photo, which first appeared on WorldStarHipHop.com.

According to the website, it was leaked by an ex-girlfriend of the notorious R&B superstar, who recently dropped the single "Bomb," featuring Wiz Khalifa, from his upcoming LP F.A.M.E.

Generally known to be vocal when scandal hits, Brown was relatively silent on Twitter after the photos appeared online, tweeting and then removing "WTF!!! Here we go!!!" on his verified account.

"Another day!! Another lesson! Another party!!" he tweeted on Saturday afternoon. "I'm so thankful to have the support of my fans with my music! Love."

The incident is the latest in a series of photo scandals for Brown, who saw more pictures of a beaten-up and bruised Rihanna released in February. Brown pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of five years of probation on June 22, 2009 for domestic abuse against the "Umbrella" superstar.

VANISH GRAND OPENING TONIGHT MARCH 4TH

It's about that time! The opening debut for club Vanish, and this place comes as underground as they get; hence the name 'Vanish'. I got an early sneak peak of the place weeks ago. And I wouldn't be surprised if your sassy mid-work week problems vanished away the further you walked into the club. This luxurious basement has atmosphere with the ability to make you feel sexy, at ease, or dancing.

Their modo is “Escape tonight. Forget tomorrow” and I think you just might, in their exceptionally comfortable and large booths, bright open lit up bar space, and impressive go go dancers so close you feel you can touch them ( but ya can't ha ha).

Opening night is TONIGHT, The “Grand Opening” featuring Dj Stonerokk. Stonerokk's miraculous ability to spin old school alternative hip hop with soothing funk instrumental to 90's alternative, will leave you at ease unaware of time or troubles. Only smiles, drinks, and moving to the groove all night long!

Vanish away with tomorrow! The address is 835 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp of downtown San Diego ( remember look for the club under ground!) Dress code is 'Dressy' of course. So that means no sandals and jeans! Oh yes, don't forget to schedule your bottles of champagne! For guest list considerations and VIP reservations email VIP@VANISHsd.com l www.VANISHsd.com.

Kim Kardashian's 'Jam', Turn it up or Leave the Dance Floor?

Kim K steped out of her comfort zone today. The mutli-million dollar reality star released her new single "Jam", on the Ryan Seacrest show leaving Kardashian and all around Pop culture fans in a craze, or state of confusion. Although the song was titled “Jam”, many could mistake for spam.

Personally we thought the songs slow un-tempo beat was just an opening credit, but when it got to the chorus the slow Un-Danceble beat never picked up: "Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, Deee-jaaaaay." Ever since House Wives of New Yorks LuAnn de Lesseps single "Money can't buy your class" did I see a reality stars dignity crash and burn so fast. Maybe these women should stay away from the recording studio and spend more time in the reality studio of their pretentious lives among places like barbados.

Ryan Secrest debuted the song afterwards stating “I think it's “fun””. Hmm ya maybe in a coma? In the interview Kim speaks about an upcoming tour. Ummm ya your kidding me right? Because Kim the last time you were on stage you were instantly given the boot by one of music's greatest dance legends 'Prince' after not dancing when he pulled you up on stage; “Get off me stage if your not dancing!"

Natalie Portman Wins Best Actress at the 2011 Oscars

At the age of 29, Natalie Portman has taken home her first Oscar, winning Best Actress at the 83rd Academy Awards for her work in Black Swan.

Portman beat out heavy competition, including Annette Benning, Nicole Kidman, and newcomer Jennifer Larwrence. She was coming strong off earlier award show wins, including a Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild Award, and the BAFTA Award.

Holding her statue, Portman thanked a long list of people, including her fiance, Benjamin Millepied, who she called "my beautiful love ...  who has now given me my most important role of my life." Portman added that she was "so in awe" of her fellow nominees before making it clear that the most important people in her life are "my family, my friends, and my love."

This was her second time to be nominated. She was previously recognized for her work in Closer in 2005.

Motown: Dancing In The White House

The dancing wasn’t in the street – tonight it was in the White House.

Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder came out to celebrate fifty years of rhythm and blues with a White House music night devoted to black history month and Motown’s effect on music and American history.

Obama called it "the soundtrack of the civil rights era," and credited Motown's tight lyrics, catchy melodies and deep soul with helping to "blur the line between music that was considered either black or white."

“Along the way, songs like ‘Dancing in the Streets’ and ‘What’s Going On’ became the soundtrack of the civil rights era,” President Obama said in the East Room of the White House. “Black artists began soaring to the top of the pop charts for the first time. And at concerts in the South, Motown groups literally brought people together –- insisting that the ropes traditionally used to separate black and white audience members be taken down.”

While the Motown greats sang the classics, the new era of singers - Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Gloriana, Nick Jonas, Jordin Sparks and John Legend - paid tribute to the way paved for them.

The president – and his dancing – were the brunt of some great jokes by comedian Jamie Fox.

“You are not going to dance with me – I saw you on 'Ellen'!” MC of the night Jaime Foxx said to President Obama, impersonating his at times stiff dancing. “That definitely was not the black side of you right there.”

But in the end, the president still showed some of his own Motown moves, dancing with his daughter Sasha Obama for a brief moment during the finale  when all the performers sang “Dancing in the Streets."
And Vice President Biden wasn’t free from being the target of the jokes either.

“In the ‘60’s – how many of you remember the ‘60s?” Foxx said. “I know you remember the ‘60s”

Foxx said to Vice President Biden, “you remember the ‘30s man.”

Political circus O'donnell asked to Dance

Washington (CNN) -- Politics is serious business -- but not all the time.

They want me! They really want me!

Christine O'Donnell, the headline-grabbing former Republican U.S. Senate candidate, recently announced on her Facebook page that the producers of ABC's hit show "Dancing with the Stars" asked her to be a contestant on the upcoming season.

Calling it a "Facebook Exclusive," the Tea Party favorite wrote: "I just got the Official 'Ask' from Dancing With The Stars!! Although I am utterly flattered, my initial thought was to decline, as 2 year old nephew has more rhythm than me, and my two left feet!!"

The post had 231 "like" responses and 375 comments as of Wednesday morning.

Cheryl Burke admits to 'fling' with Chad Ochocinco

Of all her Dancing With The Stars partners, Cheryl Burke appeared to have a particular connection to Chad Ochocinco.
In her new book, Dancing Lessons, Burke, 26, writes that people assumed she and Chad were "an item" last spring because they had great chemistry and were both single. (There was also the matter of that $10,000 ring he gave her.) And now she tells
Lifeline Live that, yes, "We had a little bit of a fling."
They dated? "We didn't date. I wouldn't call that dating," she said, calling yesterday between media appearances for the book. "We maybe had a little bit of a fling. I wouldn't take it to that word dating."
She says, ultimately, "He was never really available to me. I 've had that pattern of dating unavailable men in my life and it was hard to resist, obviously, but it was still something I knew from other relationships."

Burke says she doesn't have a boyfriend. "It's been a little over a year and I've taken this time for me and taken the time to really get to know who I am. I'm still healing from everything. For now, it's best that I work on me and focus on my career. I'm ready to date, but I'm always traveling."
The "healing" she's talking about stems from being molested as a five-year-old by a family handyman, which she reveals in the book. From being beaten with a belt by abusive boyfriends. And from being hurt by media scrutiny over her weight.

And she has no regrets about getting so personal. "Oh my gosh. Not at all. I've been getting amazing positive feedback. It's helping me and I feel like I'm helping people."
She admits, "I did think about it for awhile. Do I really want to go this deep? But this is my story."

And she's ready to return for the new season of Dancing With The Stars, although she won't know her celebrity partner until after they're all announced on Feb. 28. "I have no idea" who will be on, she says, and adds, "We have no say" about who she'll be paired with, which is why "every season has been a different experience" -- from Tom DeLay to Wayne Newton to Gilles Marini to Emmitt Smith.
She doesn't foresee leaving the show anytime soon, as pros Julianne and Derek Hough have. If anything, she says, she'd like to "maybe do another dance show on television or have a talk show, be a spokesperson for young women. "
After the book tour ends and Dancing gets underway, she does have one project lined up: A new shoe line that will debut in April. She promises she'll have "heels, wedges -- shoes for all women that are as comfortable as a dance shoe."

Bitch stole my man!!! Dancer Julianne Hough is dating Ryan Seacrest.

Well not my # 1 fantasy draft, but Seacrest is the epitome of what it means to the ultimate Entertainment TV host!

The million dollar television reporter didn't interview his sweetie Julianne Hough on the Grammy red carpet. That job went to his E! Colleague Giuliana Rancic did. Rancic didn't hesitate to grill the former Dancing With The Stars pro about what she and Ryan would be doing to celebrate the romantic day.

"I don't know," said Julianne. "I just have to be ready by 6 p.m. I really have no idea."

But she figures it'll be good whatever it is. "He's pretty on top of it."

She mentioned she follows Ryan on Twitter, something that started long before their began dating. "I tweeted him something about two years ago and he didn't tweet me back." Ryan!

Julianne said she has a new album in the works and "a couple more film projects where I might be singing in them, too." Oh please woman, don't sing, don't act, just do what you do best, DANCE BITCH!

Paula Abdul’s "Live to Dance" is already Dead

Paula Abdul’s show, “Live to Dance”, has been cancelled. Can you believe it? Paula is said to be “devastated.” I heard that the ratings weren’t that good, but I never thought it would get cancelled.

I’m so sorry for Paula Abdul, because I know she really wanted this to happen. I mean the woman is a dancer herself, and she probably wanted the creators of American Idol to cringe when she made it to the top spot. Let’s be honest. I saw the show a few times and just wasn’t impressed. It was just lacking something, but I can’t put my finger on it. I don’t think this will break Paula.

She will move on to other things; just not American Idol. We shall see. She has been in the business for sometime now, and will be on a television show before you know it. For now, all of us that need our Paula Abdul fix will just have to wait until the right opportunity presents itself to her.

Do we even need another dance competition anyway? I seriously doubt it. Maybe this was just bad timing. I think if there is one thing she would be really good at, it would be judging a dance competition. The show did run it’s full season so she did get to complete it.

At least she was not cancelled mid-season thank God. I think Paula is not done yet, we will get to see her soon. Just you wait!

Mila Kunis Says “I Will Never Dance Again”

Mila Kunis Says “I Will Never Dance Again”. She lost 20 pounds, tore a ligament, dislocated a shoulder and trained for several months. But when Mila Kunis, star of Black Swan, recalls her injuries she quickly adds, “And it was worth every minute.”

In a recent interview with W Magazine (via The Huffington Post), the edgy ballerina says training for the movie resulted in several bruises. She recalls, “I had never danced in my life. I trained for four months, seven days a week, five hours a day. I had one day off on my birthday.”

Although she admits it was worth every minute, she adds,”But I will never dance again. I’m a strong believer in mind over matter, but I didn’t fully understand what that meant until this production.”

Fans will get two Britneys for the price of one in 'HIAM' video, which premieres on MTV next Thursday.

It looks like Britney Spears is in a throwdown with herself in the video for "Hold It Against Me." In the latest, very brief teaser for the video, one Britney knocks down a second Britney (or Britney look-alike) with a blow to the face.

The teaser opens with a shot of two sets of feet, perfectly accessorized in high platform shoes. The camera pans up to show that one blond woman, dressed in a flowing gown, is punching another blond woman, also in a flowing gown, sending her flying through the air and onto the ground in slow motion. The two versions of Britney appear to be in some sort of battle for Britney supremacy.

With less than a week until the actual premiere of the video, fans have been given bits and pieces of the puzzle that is the Jonas Ă…kerlund-directed video.

"Anything that he does is magical. His eye for art is insane, so I was excited to work with someone who loves art so much, and it's not just a job, it's not technical — it really is a string aesthetic to what he does," the video's choreographer Brian Friedman
said recently about the video's director.

"I really feel like bringing two artists together in a way like that — where the director really loves the dance and understands the art of the dance and doesn't try to cover it up and water it down — is the best way to go," he added. "He was genius for me with dance."

Spears began rolling out teasers for the video last Friday, two weeks before the video's February 17 premiere on MTV. The much-anticipated clip will air on MTV and MTV.com Thursday at 9:56 p.m. ET, right before a new episode of "Jersey Shore."

Brett Favre: Kurt Warner Urges Brett Favre to Dance with the Stars

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner wants retired and future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre to go on the ABC show Dancing with the Stars.

Although some sources think there's no way ABC would make Favre a contestant on the family-friendly show based on his past transgressions off the field, Warner said "controversy is good for ratings."

Warner has been a contestant on the show and seems to be all the rage for celebrities and retired sports figures alike.

But as mentioned by Pop Eater, I'd rather see Cincinnati Bengals receiver Terrell Owens on the show.

Hmmm, an old guy who kinda creeps me out compared to a receiver made for TV (however horrible that may be)?
I'd think Owens would not only be a better dancer, but also comes with a bit of controversy himself.

Maybe Owens could dance with pal Chad Ochocinco? The disgruntled Carson Palmer?

Sounds like a ratings boost if I ever heard one.

However, this might be therapy for Favre, who seems to be connected at the hip with football. Maybe it will keep his mind off returning to the football field once again out of retirement.

What are your thoughts on Farve the next DWTS?

Prince Kicks Kim Kardashian Off Stage at Concert for Not Dancing

Musician Prince brought reality TV star Kim Kardashian on stage with him Monday night at New York's Madison Square Garden -- then kicked her off for refusing to dance.

YouTube video posted late Monday night shows Prince dancing with an audience member before sending her back to her seat and summoning Kardashian from the front row.

Kardashian clapped but did not dance with the singer, and moments later Prince told her, "Get off the stage!"

Later in the show, Prince gave Kardashian another chance and she obliged him with some dance moves.
Kardashian's excuse? "I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me," she wrote on Twitter. "Went up on stage AGAIN! This time

I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!"
Prince was joined later in the concert by singer Cee-Lo Green, who turned his Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy" into a duet with Prince.

Super Bowl XLV halftime show, Make it Stop!

In theory, the Black Eyed Peas are the perfect band to play at the Super Bowl halftime show. They’re glitzy, entertaining, and it’s hard to believe that any sporting event of the last five years hasn’t played a song by the group at some point during play. Yet, they seemed to fall short during the halftime show — standing up in front of a live crowd of more than 100,000 people, the Black Eyed Peas seemed… well, as small as peas themselves.

The dancers surrounding them might have had to adhere to strict choreography, but the Peas, merely standing next to each other in a line, looked awkward, as if they didn’t have a concrete plan for what would happen after they descended from the sky (a cool effect, I’ll admit) at the beginning of the show. No matter how many awesome LED effects they could distract us with, you couldn’t mistake the fact that we were watching a small pack of four musicians — with plenty of sound problems.

The foursome began singing their feel-good hit, “I Gotta Feeling” and were quickly set off-balance as soon as Fergie’s mic cut off as she began her portion of the song. They followed up with a shrug-worthy “Boom Boom Pow,” and then shifted gears a tad: Out came Slash, playing “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” (The Super Bowl halftime show isn’t the Super Bowl halftime show without an aging rock star!)

The guitarist, however, did add some much-needed musicality to the event — that is, until Fergie began singing. As stellar a vocalist the Black Eyes Peas singer might be, classic rock certainly is not her strong suit.

Then came “Pump It” and “Let’s Get It Started,” but the Black Eyed Peas didn’t quite hit their stride, strangely enough, until they began the politically-charged!

“Where Is the Love,” performed against the backdrop of Valentine’s Day-appropriate red hearts that experienced some technical difficulties of their own — part of that pesky “V” refused to light up. (And, surprise surprise, will.i.am changed the lyrics to the tune during the show.) Usher came along to play as well, handling his “OMG” song-and-dance routine much better than he has in previous live performances. And, shockingly, the band sounded best performing what might just be their worst song to date, “The Time (Dirty Bit).”

But tell me, football and Black Eyed Peas fans: What did you think of the halftime show? Time of your life? Or time to make them stop?

Defensive lineman gave Bears fans preview of what he could do at Super Bowl

That was where Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji — the B.J. stands for Bad Jig as far as Chicago is concerned — celebrated his 18-yard interception return for a touchdown with a dance that quickly went viral all over the Internet, keeping many fan's up laughing with Raji.

Punctuating the biggest play that kept the Bears from the Super Bowl, Raji put his hands on his hips as he swiveled them, all 337 pounds of the defensive lineman jiggling to mark the Packers' joyous occasion. It made Raji the heaviest NFL player to score a postseason touchdown since William "Refrigerator'' Perry spiked the ball in Super Bowl XX for the Bears.

Raji gave his dance an A-plus and says he looks forward to showing the world his tsunami once again!

Who the he'll is that girl?

Carina ( center) with her arm clearly demonstrating a confident win over the rest of the girls auditioning last night at Vanish.

7th at bat, & at the start of the beat her body never quit. She had the adrenaline & sexual appeal of Britney Spears( that is, in one of her better dance video's & coordination of Julianne Hough from her neck, to hips and back down to her feet.

At the auditions, Carina told us she has aspired to be a club dancer for years, but was never offered a gig.

5 minutes later the Chula Vista native found out she got a final call back! Congrats Carina! We look forward to see you shake it on the dance floor!

Vanish Nightclub Dance Auditions tonight

Tonight I attended the Vanish Night Club "Go-go" dancer auditions. Although sadly I did not get a second call back, on the upside I got the opportunity to meet other dancers as passionate about dance as myself. Some where good, some where experienced, & some where straight up out of this world, setting the bar extremely high! To top it off, the night couldn't have been more surprising as headline dancer of FLUXX San Diego and Boom Box Dancer icon Chloe Nevermore sat in for the auditions, as her friend was the main judge. You can imagine how ecstatic I was, even a little nervous!

One thing is for sure thought, "Vanish" will be remarkable, from head to toe! Along with auditioning dancers, managers are putting together the last few bits of the under ground club together in time for it's opening night, expected to be the end of this month. It's called "Vanish" hence it's vanished stair cases down into a basement far beneath 5th & F street in the Gaslamp District of downtown San Diego! In fact, I almost gave up looking for the audition. It wasn't until a friend/dancer of mine who was also auditioning for the gig pointed out the club was far underground.

When I finally arrived, nearly 3 stair cases below sea level, what I saw was phenomenal. I can tell you from personal experience this new underground hotspot will be off the hook with VIP rooms, booths, huge bar, & the dancers WILL BE outstanding!

Stay tuned as we will be announcing the opening night of Vanish here on Boom Box Dancers!
